Languages
Through studying languages at St Augustine’s, we aim to develop confident and passionate linguists. Alongside the development of the four key skills areas; listening, speaking, reading and writing, pupils have the opportunity to expand their intercultural understanding and appreciate the customs and traditions of countries where these languages are spoken. Our GCSE course builds on our Key Stage 3 work and is accessible to all our students.
We believe that learning languages is of great importance culturally, academically and economically; it is proven that studying another language improves your employability and future salary. Through learning another language at St Augustine’s, pupils have the opportunity to develop literacy and communication skills as well as a wider range of cross-curricular links. As a department, we are proud to offer a real range of linguistic events to all year groups and tailored support to our exam classes.
