St Augustine's Catholic College

Young Musician March 2026

On Wednesday 11th March, St Augustine’s Catholic College proudly hosted its Young Musician of the Year 2026 Final at the Wiltshire Music Centre, performing to an almost full house. The evening was a wonderful celebration of music at the College and showcased the exceptional talent, dedication, and creativity of our students. From the many musicians who auditioned earlier in the year, a selection of 13 outstanding soloists and 4 ensembles were invited to perform in the final. Each performer had already impressed in the audition round, and the final concert gave them the opportunity to share their musical talents with a wider audience in a professional concert setting. The programme reflected an impressive breadth of musical styles and influences. The audience enjoyed everything from the dramatic and atmospheric Interstellar theme by Hans Zimmer, to beautiful classical works by composers such as Chopin and Handel. Alongside these were musical theatre performances, as well as well-known pop and rock pieces that brought great energy to the stage. Every performer showed remarkable confidence and musicianship, and the standard throughout the evening was exceptionally high. It was a memorable and inspiring occasion for performers and audience alike, and the College is immensely proud of all the students who took part.
