The College Day
As St Augustine’s is larger than your junior school, new Year 7 students will find it rather different at first. You will also find that the day is organised differently.
St Augustine’s has a two-week timetable; Week A and Week B. To help you remember which week is which, Week A or Week B is printed at the top of the page in your planner and is also in the college calendar. Each day will consist of five lessons, each of one hour’s duration, with a short mid morning break and a lunch break. Copies of individual timetables will be given out on the first morning of term.
On Monday mornings form tutor time is replaced by a spiritual assembly for Year 7 in the main hall led by the Head of Year 7 or a member of the Senior Management Team.
The timing of the school day is:
9.10 – 10.10
10.15 – 11.15
11.15 – 11.35
11.35 – 12.35
12.40 – 1.40 pm
1.40 – 2.30
2.30 – 3.30
Five minutes’ transit time is built in between lessons.
At morning break the dining area will be open and students will be able to purchase a variety of drinks and snacks.
At lunch break we operate a cafeteria system where a large selection of food and drink is available to choose from. A main meal, including a cake or pudding, can be purchased. Sandwiches are sold and it is hoped that you will purchase from the College instead of bringing packed lunches.
Students may consume food and drink in designated areas only, not around the College. Students are responsible for keeping the dining hall tidy by using the recycling and litter bins provided and by returning their trays after their meal. Students are not allowed to leave college premises during the lunch break.
