Chaplaincy
The Chaplaincy is in the Robert Cook building and you can spend time there at break and lunch time to chat to Faith or play a game of Jenga. Faith helps to co-ordinate the prayers and liturgies at St Augustine’s so is the person to speak to if you would like to be involved in college services or masses or if you’re an altar server or reader at church. You can also speak to Faith confidentially if you are upset or worried about anything.
The College Chapel is on the top floor of the Robert Cook building and you are welcome to use it at break or lunch time for quiet prayer and reflection. There is a prayer board in Chapel where you can write your prayers and leave them so that others who use the Chapel can also pray for your intentions. The Chapel is a sacred space in College and because the Blessed Sacrament is reserved in the Tabernacle it is important that we remember to genuflect as we enter and leave to show our respect and love to God.
Faith organises activities in Chapel with some of the older college students during lunch times and it is hoped that you will get involved in coming to these and taking part in this important aspect of college life. The Chaplaincy also organises activities that remind us of our need to serve those around us and there will be many opportunities for you to raise money for charities, engage in campaigning for important issues and use your time helping others by getting involved in volunteering opportunities.
Each lesson at St Augustine’s begins with prayer to remind us that Christ is at the centre of our lives and work and it is hoped that you will get involved in leading these as you progress through the College.
