On 20th December 2019, 50 year 11 students left College in high spirits at 2.30am to head off on their three day trip to Berlin. This annual trip allows GCSE History students the opportunity to bring half of the content they cover to life- Germany 1890-1945 and the Cold War 1945-72, where Berlin is the epicentre of the historical events studied.
We went on a walking tour of the capital, saw amazing views from the dome of the Reichstag, visited the former concentration camp at Sachsenhausen, toured the 1936 Olympic Stadium which took in its history and its present as a football stadium and also saw various exhibitions at museums. There was also some down time exploring the Christmas market and some very competitive bowling!
Thank you to all the students who took in the history of Berlin and represented the College so well.
We will next be in Berlin in July with year 10.
