We have enjoyed a very happy morning of celebrations watching our pupils open their examination results which have been marvellous. The pupils have displayed a superbly mature work ethic during their studies and preparation for their exams and they deserved to do well.
This year, the examinations are being graded using two systems of grades. We are delighted that 32% of entries gained Grade 7 – 9 & A* – A; we are particularly impressed that 24 students have attained 8 or more A* – A or 7 – 9 grades. One student of particular note, Ella Veakins, has gained a fantastic complete set of Grade 9s and an A*! Overall, 72% of entries gained a strong pass (Grade 5 – 9 & A* – C) and 84.1% of entries gained a standard pass (Grade 4 – 9 & A* – C). The Maths and English performance is also pleasing with 90% of pupils achieving a standard pass in English Language and 84% of pupils achieved a standard pass in Mathematics. It is also so rewarding to learn that 79% of our pupils gained 5 standard passes including English and Maths. We are expecting the progress 8 score to be very good which will verify the excellent progress in their learning that pupils have made during their five years of study with St Augustine’s.
These results are a great achievement and they underline the determination and work ethic displayed by our hard working pupils. The college would like to extend congratulations to every pupil on all the achievements of the class of 2018 and thanks to the dedicated teachers and supportive families who have made this possible.
