Once again the ICT department are running the “Sustainable St Augustine’s” competition with the Year 9 Students. The aim of this competition is for students to create a number of digital products that promote recycling and being more environmentally friendly within the school. It started with the recycling machine brought in by the Tech department that takes old plastic and creates useful household products. The students have to promote this as well as getting people to be more eco friendly in general.
They get the chance to work in groups of four to create a Website, a Video, a Mobile app, a radio advert and come up with a logo and slogan. That all work together for a campaign on promoting SSA’s.
They get the chance to be creative, learn about recycling and hopefully have fun while picking up skills that will be very useful if they study ICT further. Of course there is an added incentive of a prize for the group that does the best presentation to the guest judges at the end of the 6 week time period.
