Pupil Premium

Pupil Premium

The Pupil Premium fund is available for students in receipt of free school meals, Ever 6, looked-after children and children adopted from care, and to those from Service families to support the targets we set for every child

At St Augustine’s, the numbers of Pupil Premium students are low, though this is growing and the students do very well. Bespoke planning and individual attention together with a culture of high expectation and aspiration enables students to receive the support they need to achieve well.

Our key priority with the Pupil Premium fund is to ensure that all students in danger of underachieving are supported to narrow the disadvantage gap by addressing inequalities and raising the attainment of students in low income families and providing pastoral support to service family students as appropriate.

The government has trusted schools to decide how the Pupil Premium, allocated to schools to support students on  Free School Meals, Ever 6, children who have been adopted from care and looked after children and Service student, is spent.  We will assess what additional provision should be made for the individual students. St Augustine’s Intervention Team will contact parents to share plans for their son or daughter. If parents of students on free school meals wish to purchase books or educational equipment for their son or daughter, they will first be invited to contact the Finance Office at finance@sta.cc so that the funds can be allocated.  Heads of Department will make sure that payment for equipment or texts provided by the College for these students is organized from the grant.  This premium grant can also be allocated towards curriculum trips where it is deemed to be of educational and developmental benefit. Students may receive intervention and support on a bespoke and individual basis  as deemed appropriate including academic mentoring, 1:1 English or Maths tuition, additional small group learning, counselling, pastoral mentoring, extra-curricular provision, and in Year 11 there are numerous revision sessions provided by departmental staff outside college hours. It is our aim to enable all students in college to access every opportunity to enable them to make the most progress and be happy in their learning.

Confidentiality is of the utmost importance therefore all needs and requests can be discussed with Rob Pitcher at rjp@sta.cc
