Raising school standards through strategic direction, invaluable support & acting as a critical friend
The Governing Body of the College works in collaboration with the Head Teacher to provide strategic direction and support. It comprises foundation, local authority, parent and staff governors, all being appointed for a period of four years.
The foundation governors are appointed by the Diocese, recommendations generally being given by our parish priests. The recently appointed Mayor of Trowbridge currently represents the local authority. The parent governors, numbering three, are elected by the parents with staff governors, also numbering three, being elected by the staff employed at the College.
The Governing Body meets at least four times each year with each of the Committees meeting regularly throughout the year. Committees currently in use are the Admissions, Curriculum Development, Finance & Premises, Pastoral and Staffing. In addition there are three further Committees – the Interview Pool (of which all Governors are a member), Student Discipline and Staff Dismissal Appeals which meet only as required.
The College has a very supportive Governing Body, each Governor providing a link to one or more departments which they visit regularly. They are an active group taking delight in attending many College functions, from presentation evenings to music events and staff socials.
