On Friday 9th February, 17, Year 9 students took part in the Energizer Event. They looked at what it meant to be an engineer including what roles engineers play in our lives. This ranged from cosmetics to food to buildings. We were lucky enough to have 3 STEM ambassadors with us, including Barney who is an engineer and Rachel, a Bath University students, studying Civil Engineering.
The students involved, looked at non-renewable, renewable and sustainable energy sources. In groups, they decided which ones would be best for different countries.
Finally, the students had a go at assembling battery operated cars. They had to work out what changes to make to the voltage and wheel position to see whose car would go the furthest.
