Bath University Problem Solving Session
Last night some of our year 11 students had the opportunity to work with the Widening Participation team from Bath University on some problem solving questions. The students stayed after school for an hour long session where they looked at what skills are involved in tackling the more challenging ‘problem solving’ questions at GCSE level. The had to match up GCSE problems to the topic that was being assessed, then try to set out steps involved in solving the problems.
They then took part in a relay competition where they had to solve some problems in teams, which helped them to develop some effective problem solving techniques. The session finished with a summary of the techniques they had covered. Bath University will be back next Wednesday so we look forward to learning some more techniques and solving some more problems.
