Monday evening saw 4 St Augustine’s touch rugby teams compete against each other for bragging rights.
4 teams chosen by Archie, Bassie, Harry, and Leonor competed in first off a group stage, then into a knockout format.
In the group stage part of the tournament, Archie’s XI remained unbeaten in 6 games only drawing to Harry’s team who ended up runners up. Bassie’s XI ended up third, alongside Leonor’s XI with each team claiming at least one point.
This led us into the semi final where Archie’s XI played and won in a high quality game against Leonor’s XI, and keeping to form, Harry’s XI came out on top in a close but well fought victory against Bassie’s XI.
This left a tight final with form suggesting that Archie’s XI would just come out on top.
After a close 5 minutes, the scores remained even at 2-2, leaving it down to the final try to grasp victory and bragging status among the two years. After a nervy last 5 minutes, it was Archie’s XI who just came out on top with a winning try to clinch victory from a deflated Harry team.
A good, and enjoyable tournament all round, and a perfect warm up for the girls who go to the finals next week hoping to use this experience in their favour.
