On Friday 24th February, 26 female students from Years 9 and 10 attended a Women in Engineering event at Wiltshire College. It was a great opportunity for the students to meet with Universities and National companies who use engineering. They got an insight into the wide and varied roles engineering can take, including the RAF, Network Rail, Avon Rubber and Aerospace. The girls got to try out engineering tasks such as building the strongest bridge out of rubber, trying a virtual reality headset, flight simulators and building a bridge in a set time. The students got to talk to University students who are studying for engineering degrees and see how they got there and what sort of things they design and make. It was a valuable day and the students were fully engaged.
